Research Activities

  • Molecular Inorganic Chemistry, with an emphasis on the synthesis, characterization, magnetic, optical, and catalytic study of complex compounds and polymers involving transition metals and lanthanides,
  • Bioinorganic Chemistry, with an emphasis on the synthesis, characterization, and study of the structural and catalytic behavior of transition metal complexes as "models" of the active sites of various metalloenzymes and/or their antibacterial, anticancer activity.
  • Chemistry of Magnetic Molecular Materials and Nanomaterials, with an emphasis on the synthesis and characterization of "hybrid" materials consisting of single-molecule magnets and "spin crossover" type compounds and graphene substrates or carbon nanotubes.
  • Synthesis and characterization of various chemically modified graphene CMG nanomaterials
  • She synthesized/studied the first Single Chain Magnet a molecular analogue of nanowires, during her Postdoctoral Research at the Department of Chemistry, University of Florence, Italy, with Prof. D. Gatteschi.
  • The development of several synthetic strategies (conventional, solvothermal/hydrothermal, nano synthesis, reverse micelles colloids) for the isolation of new molecular inorganic compounds and "hybrid" molecular-nanomaterials and the study of magnetic phenomena arising from the cooperative interactions of the individual carriers.
