Dear students,
We welcome you to the Department of Chemistry at the University of Patras. By joining one of the most historic Departments of our Institution, you are embarking on a journey of knowledge and creativity that will accompany you throughout your life.
Since 1966, the Department of Chemistry has been a cornerstone of the University of Patras. Here, we cultivate the science that illuminates our daily lives, modern technology, medicine, industry, and environmental protection. With highly qualified staff (7 Professors of our Department are included in Stanford’s “World’s Top 2% Scientists List”), a modern curriculum, suitable infrastructure, and international collaborations, we continue to educate scientists and produce research that stands out both in Greece and internationally.
Chemistry in our Department covers the full spectrum: from Inorganic, Organic, Analytical Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry to Biochemistry, Food Chemistry, Polymer/Materials Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Environmental Chemistry. At the same time, our research activities are connected with global centers of excellence and industrial partners, paving the way for innovation, sustainability, and progress.
By joining the Department of Chemistry, you become members of a vibrant learning and research community, where you will have the opportunity to develop critical thinking, acquire cutting-edge knowledge and skills, and shape your own path, in education, industry, research, or entrepreneurship.
Your period of study will be filled with challenges, but also with unique opportunities. We encourage you to make the most of every experience, to seek collaboration and creativity, to study, and to be inspired.
I encourage you to visit the Department of Chemistry website regularly, where you will find information about our study programs, research activities, and events, as well as practical guidance for your daily academic life.
We wish you a fruitful and creative academic journey, full of knowledge, research, and personal growth.
