The ERASMUS+ Programme is a European mobility initiative that offers students at all levels of study—undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral—the opportunity to spend a period of time at another institution with which our Department has established a bilateral agreement for Studies (ERASMUS+ Studies), or to undertake a traineeship at an institution or company within the EU (ERASMUS+ Placements).
Below you will find helpful information about the ERASMUS+ Programme, the Department of Chemistry's active bilateral agreements, and practical details and links on application periods, deadlines, and the overall procedure.

Erasmus Mobility ROADMAP for Students
To apply to the University of Patras/Department of Chemistry for the Erasmus+ Student Mobility Program, your university needs to have a current Inter-Institutional Agreement with us. You can find the list of our partner universities here.
BEFORE MOBILITY – APPLICATION
STEP 1
Contact your Erasmus+ Department Coordinator at your Home University if you intend to study at the University of Patras (UP). Before your applications to UP, you must be officially nominated by your home university. If there is no inter-institutional agreement between our universities and you are interested in studying in our Department of Chemistry, you may write to our Erasmus+ Coordinators (, ) to suggest the implementation of an inter-institutional agreement. If they are willing to cooperate, we might be able to establish an inter-institutional agreement, after which you can proceed to the next step.
STEP 2
Check the Courses Available at our University. At this address, you can find the list of subjects available at our department. You will use them to fill in the learning agreement. Please pay attention to the fact that your learning agreement should only contain courses that are taught during the period of your stay.
- Minimum number of ECTS to be selected: 10 out of 30 (per semester).
- Teaching in English will be offered only if there are more than five students enrolled. Otherwise, the course will be conducted using the “Reading Method.”(hyperlink-text is provided below)
In laboratory courses, attendance is compulsory, and face-to-face (F2F) instruction will be provided in English.
- In case of interest in conducting a BSc Thesis at the Department of Chemistry, University of Patras, a formal Invitation Letter from a faculty member of the Department of Chemistry is required and must be submitted together with the Learning Agreement (LA).
What is the “Reading Method”?
The Reading Method refers to a form of instruction in which:
- There are no regular lectures in English.
- Students study the course material independently (lecture notes, textbooks, articles) provided in English.
- The instructor offers guidance, clarification, and assessment (e.g. office hours, written assignments, or exams), typically in English.
STEP 3 – APPLICATION
Deadline for applications and nominations for the fall term/full academic year: June 15
Deadline for applications and nominations for the spring term: November 15
Nominated students will have 30 days to complete and send their documents to the University of Patras Erasmus+ Office.
