Based on the advances occurred during the last years in matrix organization and matrix-mediated regulation of the various cell functions, this 6-days advanced level  FEBS-MPST 2013 scientific meeting will offer oral sessions with invited plenary lectures and confirmed talks from outstanding experts, general lectures/tutorials, selected talks related to the topics of the presented abstracts, participant poster presentations, panel discussions and speakers’ corner. These sessions will address both basic and applied science topics that appeal to the range of participants working in the fields of matrix biology (pathobiochemistry and pathobiology), structural biology and cell and molecular biology.

Plenary Symposia will be introduced and moderated by leading scientists acting as discussion leaders. Symposia includes: Matrix Pathobiology / Interactions and Functions of Matrix Macromolecules / Glycobiology and Metabolic Regulation of ECM molecules / Matrix-mediated Signaling and EMT / Cell Receptors Signaling and ECM based Nanotechnology / Signaling and Disease Molecular Targeting / Matrix Regulation in Health and Disease.

The meeting will further cover topics related to ongoing development in the fields of:

  • Cell surface, interactions and signaling
  • Metalloproteinases and other proteases
  • Matrix organization and assembly
  • Cancer Stem Cell Biology and Biomarkers
  • Pharmacological Targeting

A number of FEBS Youth Travel Funds (FEBS YTF) for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers within five years of obtaining a PhD will be available, upon application, covering registration fees and expenses toward travelling. Talks will be selected from the submitted abstract. Young investigator awards will also available upon application.

The most important goal of the FEBS-MPST 2013 meeting is to bring together senior with young scientists from life sciences on an important and rapidly developing scientific field and to create the environment for a superb science, warm collegiality, and an all-around rewarding experience during this special time of year.

Deadlines for abstracts submissions and YTF applications:

May 20th, 2013: Deadline for FEBS YTF applications.

May 31st, 2013: Deadline for application/registration and abstract submission.

For further info, invited speakers/tutors, preliminary program, submission of abstracts, eligibility criteria for YTF applications and application/registration, visit the website: www.febs-mpst2013.upatras.gr, which is continuously updated.

We are looking forward to welcome you for an exciting and memorable scientific meeting.

Prof. Nikos Karamanos, Chairman
